My partner and I are full time residents of the Big Island but we enjoy time away on one of the other Islands to rejuvenate ourselves . Our trip to Kauai had the added advantage that we were meeting up with some dear friends.
Mahina Kai B & B was a wonderful location to do so. Both the place and the owner defined the meaning of Aloha and we would certainly stay there again if we were on Kauai.
This north/east coast line of Kauai is undoubtedly the most beautiful side of Kauai if you are looking fror a more "local" experience of the Island. The location of the B&B makes it easy to access some of the very special places on the Island.
If you are looking for a "resort" type experience this is not the place for you. However, if you want to experience Hawaii without the pampering of the resorts then this is the place for you.

Wonderful Rooms, lots of space, beautiful views. 
We had a wonderful time with Joe Moore at his B&B! He´s a great, funny guy that sure makes your stay plesant!
 
The house is wonderful, the oriental/japanese architecture, makes it unique!
 
I recomend you rent a car if you plan to stay there, it´s half an hour to Hanalei and 15 minutes to kaapa, you defenetly need it.
 
We had bad luck with the weather, but the pool is amazing!
 
I would defenetly recomend this B&B!
 
Be sure to print the map, there is no sign at the entrance.
